Races

Humans

As times change and the progeny of our fellow races multiply, it is important to remember the achievements of our forebears, as well as the struggles we still face today. The other races have their own conflicts and interests, but we humans are still under vicious assault by the forces of evil. Our great cities and our centuries of civilization are ours to defend against threats political and supernatural alike. Should you choose to bear proudly your fully human ancestry, never forget that your greatest strength is your fellow man.

Human beings are the most diverse race in Meridian. They are not as smart as half-demons, not as strong as half-orcs, and not as agile as half-elves, but they have above-average potential in all areas.

Human Traits

Racial Stat Maximums:

50 Might
50 Intellect
50 Stamina
50 Agility
50 Mysticism
50 Aim

Fully human adventurers have no base resistances or weaknesses, mainly because we defined the scales in the first place.

As diversity is the greatest asset of our race, human beings are extraordinarily flexible. While humans have no innate strengths or weaknesses, they get two stat points per reincarnation. These points adjust with your number of reincarnations, and are not retained or lost when switching ancestries, therefore you do not have to reincarnate in a certain order.

Reincarnating as Human

For each reincarnation you have achieved, you will have two(2) additional stat points to distribute.

To reincarnate as fully human, visit The Hall of Genealogy in Cor Noth and say I wish to reincarnate as human.

Half-Orcs

Half-orcs are built with the toughness of the caves. Resisting damage from scimitars and arrows alike, they prefer their battles up close and personal.

Half-orcs make ideal melee brawlers, but it should be noted that they have similar capacity to humans for knowledge and spirituality. Some scholars have pointed out that we should have noticed this long ago. After all, a decent percentage of their population become wizards by trade.

60 Might

60 Stamina
30 Agility
50 Mysticism
30 Aim

Racial Resistances:

20% unholy resistance
10% pierce resistance
10% slash resistance
15% holy vulnerability

Half-orcs have very large appetites, and can eat a great deal of food in one sitting. Their resting max vigor is also very high.

Half-Deamon

Demons themselves are far cleverer and in tune with the mystic arts than humans. Demons tend to avoid direct physical combat, since they’d much rather curse you and watch you suffer. As for humans with partial demon ancestry, those details are private, though I’m sure you know how that kind of thing happens…

Half-demons carry some of the extraplanar abilities of their parents, including heightened capacity for intelligence and mysticism. This greater intellectual awareness comes at the cost of their physical bodies, which for full Demons were simply manifestations they made at will during the… act of parenting.

Half-demons make ideal mages, but it should be noted that their greater brainpower helps compensate in the areas of finesse and skill; although may be physically weaker, they can still dodge and aim as well as any full human. In addition, their partial extraplanar connection makes them mysteriously and naturally resistant to weapons made of nerudite.

Half-Deamon Traits

Racial Stat Maximums:

30 Might
60 Intellect
30 Stamina
50 Agility
60 Mysticism
50 Aim

Racial Resistances:

20% fire resistance
10% acid resistance
10% nerudite resistance
25% cold vulnerability

Half-demons eat very little compared to humans. Their resting max vigor is also somewhat restricted as a result.

For each reincarnation you have achieved, you will have one(1) additional stat point to distribute.

Half-Elf

There are a great many races in the Sylvan tree of families. The tribe your people may be most familiar with are the Fey Elhai. Their eternal war against the corrupted Fey Dirhai is a sad thing to behold, but thus is nature. Life and death are locked in a cycle from which none can escape. It is for this reason that elves have stayed out of the affairs of most races.

Half-elves are gifted with greater potential for agility and aim. At the same time, they tend to avoid vast amounts of knowledge, preferring instead absolute mastery of a few key talents. Half-elves’ ancestral history of shunning magic has led them to develop a variety of resistances to it in general, as well as a reduced capacity for mystical connection.

Half-elves make ideal dexterous rangers, but scholars have also debated whether half-elven inclinations lend themselves to fighting in the thick of things. After all, half-elves have lost none of the strength or durability of their human ancestors.

Half-Elf Traits

Racial Stat Maximums:

50 Might

Racial Resistances:

10% magical weapon resistance*

In the interests of self-sufficiency, half-elves have purposely trained themselves to require less food than humans. Their resting max vigor is also somewhat higher.

For each reincarnation you have achieved, you will have one(1) additional stat point to distribute.

Half-Undine

Undine is merely a categorization for a broad range of aquatic sentient races and water elementals. The half-undines that have begun to emerge are almost exclusively humanoid with sea-based colorization and the innate strengths of water. They are intelligent and agile, adapting to their surroundings quickly. However, their spiritual interests lie with the mysteries of the deep rather than the mysteries of nature, so they tend to have less mysticism than other races. They also rarely practice aiming, for, as they put it, waves need no aim to do damage.

Half-undine retain some of the eternal motion of the sea. Thus, uniquely among the demi-human races, half-undine resist a significant portion of containment magics.

Half-Undine Traits

Racial Stat Maximums:

50 Might
60 Intellect
50 Stamina
60 Agility
30 Mysticism
30 Aim

Racial Resistances:
